Can I return this monitor to best buy?

Before school started I bought a new gateway 22 inch monitor to go along with my gateway 7026 desktop. Well I’ve had it for less than 6 months and it just broke around Christmas (I think that one of the cables burnt out because when I turned it on one time there was this loud noise, the monitor shut off and the back of my monitor smelt really burnt) it hasn’t been working well since then, and now it doesn’t even turn on. I still have the receipt, box, and all the cables so can I return it and get some store credit, or ask the geek squad to fix it. I would prefer getting the store credit, because I plan to buy two other monitors.
